Verband der Automobil Tuner (Association of Automobile Tuners, or VDAT) is Germany’s domestic analog to the Specialty Equipment Market Association. Made up of companies in the tuning industry, the consortium is backed by German Federal Minister of Transport, and has been around for over a decade. Each year, VDAT builds a custom police cruiser to promote safe vehicle modification. Prior examples include everything from an AC Schnitzer BMW 4-Series and C7 Corvette to a Brabus Mercedes and all-electric Mini. The VDAT’s latest cop car creation? It’s based on a sixth-generation Ford Mustang GT.
