With the world apparently collapsing now in my lifetime, a handful of people are still attempting to shift the worlds focus onto more energy efficient options, especially when it comes to transportation. Renewable Energy Magazine has summarized the efforts that Oregon has made by launching their pilot made up of 5 electric buses which will run along side an already existing route to see if this will be a long term solution to contributing to conserving the environment.

Key Takeaways:

  • The Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon, also called TriMet, has launched an exciting new program.
  • The program launches 5 new all electric buses, which will be charged by ABB, bus chargers.
  • The Chargers themselves are powered by wind power, generated by Portland General Electric.

“The new battery electric buses scored as the quietest buses ever in one Federal Transit Administration test. The amount of noise they make idling — about 39 decibels — is generally quieter than the ambient noise surrounding them.”
